Three Times the Charm
This week, up until 26-27 (since Prelim Exams mark the end of the Preliminary Grading Period), I’ll be writing a full-pledged paper on an Introduction to Contemporary Literature. I’ll be tackling six literary types, with the latter two subdivided into four types each for an in-depth analysis of both. This is my Prelims requirement for my Contemporary Literature Class with Mr. June Mijares at the Aklan Catholic College. In short, I’ll probably be too damn busy to write anything comprehensive leisurely.
Personally, I have mixed reactions regarding the intellectually stimulating yet socially depriving task. As an aspiring author and literary theorist, it’s right up my alley. It’s re-inspiring me to be more efficient and competent in my chosen art, to be a whole lot better than my current status. For the past months, my writing has either been lackluster and uninspired, as the case here on this blog, or less than invisible, as the case on my deviantART. Unfortunately, more work entails less time for other things like romance and keeping my fiancée out of the cookie jar. Sure, her maturity passively grants her the ability and patience to understand and wait for me but she’s still a girl and a social creature who’d want as much of me as I do.
In other news, several staffers of the Aklan Collegian, the official campus publication of the Aklan Catholic College, will be attending the COPRE this 25 of November. COPRE, or College Press Conference, functions similarly to high school’s RSPC (Regional Schools Press Conference), DSPC (District Schools Press Conference) and NSPC (National Schools Press Conference). The difference between the latter three and COPRE is the educational level restriction. There will only be eight writers to be taken to Iloilo City for the conference but there are more than eight staffers of the Aklan Collegian. Fortunately, I’ll be going to the event while most staffers who won’t be going have other things to worry about. This will be my first stab at a journalism competition for 3-4 years now.
More news on that if I get lucky enough to win something.
Speaking of campus journalism, yesterday (November 15, 2009) had me inspired to write something revolving around sportswriting. The sudden jolt of inspiration involved a fellow writer and former colleague challenging me to write ala Rogue Magazine, Pacquiao in Time Magazine and female athletes as femme fatales.
While I am still wary of the latter two developments, I’m pretty much sure that things heading up to the end of the Preliminary Grading Period will be as busy as a beehive. At least, in terms of literature, it’ll be an awesome ride. Let’s just hope I don’t get forced to lose anything valuable in the process. I’m starting to feel the pang of literary poverty.
